Dear Reader, Image Credit: Western University The other day I was doing some math because apparently that is something people in my family do for fun. The numbers of the day had to do with the amount of time it takes to become good at something, the time it takes to become a master. You may have heard once or twice that after practicing a given task or skill for 10,000 hours, you become a master at it. This idea comes from Malcolm Gladwell in his book, "The Outliers." This sent me on a rampage of calculations. I'll summarize them as best I can below. In a year, there are 8,760 hours. This means it is impossible to become a master of something in less than a year. It would take at least a year and almost 2 months to become a master in something. However, that is assuming you practice deliberately and effectively 24/7 for that time period on whatever it is you are trying to master. Let's factor in basic needs, though. Dear Reader, Well, today is the day long talked about with the 400 challenge: blog post number 400! Here are the results of the survey about which challenge to take. Talk about a close race! For a good part of the survey period, the top three options were tied with the number of votes they had. Alas, it has come down to the challenge of telling 400 women that they are beautiful. I wanted to share a little bit about what the challenge will consist of. Of course I invite you to participate. To start off, here is a quick video that was inspired by the song "Enough" by the band The Mrs .  With that said and understood, my goal is to take a small amount of time to get to know these women who I'm going to talk to and know a little bit about the beauty they have. Dear Reader, High School Musical's "It's the Start of Something New" is the inspiration for today. I was looking at some blogs online and I wanted to make some changes. I would love to hear what you think! There are many blogs out there that are all unique. I've made some changes here and I hope you find it more appealing now. Finally, just because I love the song so much, here are Troy and Gabriella for your viewing pleasure. Yeah, the movies have some awkward moments, but enjoy the music and the connections that they make...or something like that.  As an update, I would also like to announce that this blog is coming up on 400 posts! In celebration, there is a contest to see what challenge I can complete having to do with the number 400.
