She's Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Dear Reader, Photo Credit: Sydney Christofferson This morning the writer's block was hitting hard. However, while searching for ideas of a topic to write about (which usually pop up during the week), I realized my best reason for writing is right next to me: my supercalifragilisticexpialidocious wife Lauren. Now, those of you who know me in real life will know that Lauren is the most amazing woman. I talk about her a lot. She is athletic, funny and ridiculously talented. I have never met anyone who doesn't love her. Seriously, people are always saying how they love working/studying/whatever else with her because of her bright personality and genuine smile. Her intelligence is one to be reckoned with. Right now we are in the middle of applying to graduate schools. She applied to three schools in the top 100-ranked schools in the nation (#6, #14, and #44). She applied to these schools and has already been accepted to 2 (#6 and #14. We are still waiting to hear back ...

Gloria, In Excelsis Deo!

Dear Reader, Deck the halls with lots of students! Fa la la la la, la la la...way too many students. Here is your fun fact for the day: the Harold B. Lee Library at Brigham Young University becomes one of the busiest places in Utah during December. Students at the University are studying for finals, meeting up with their groups for the final projects and getting those last minute tips from their tutors. They are all in the library. Today I could not find a spot to sit! There is no need to fear, faithful reader. The floor can be a great place to write, as long as there is a wifi connection that provides communication with you. I realized that this Blog was visited for the 8000th time this week. What a great Christmas present! Thanks to my mom for the 7999 visits! Thank you, dear reader, for the 8000th. I figured that between this milestone and the Christmas season, today is a good day to share my view on Christmas and the reason for the season. So go ahead students, take a break fr...

I'm a Mean Old Witch in a Hat

Dear Reader, Today's lyrics come from a song we learned in Elementary school during Halloween. Ever since I can remember, my feelings have been mixed about the holiday that supposedly has to do with death and darkness. However, this year my opinion of Halloween has become more solid. We will see this through a few pictures from the past couple of days. First, on the right, we have Belle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast.  I kid you not, she was reading a book as she was walking across campus. Granted, she was actually studying for a test, but it was very appropriate to see her walking around just like the movie "with her nose stuck in a book." (If memory serves correctly, the book was something about anatomy or physiology). Where else would Belle work  other than a library? Who else did I also run into? Well, check for Belle again! This time she was dressed formally for work. Where does Belle work? In the library, of course! She was very accommodati...

It's All About the Climb

Dear Reader, I will try not to be all philosophical today and just tell you about an amazing hike I went on with some friends this morning. We saw some pretty good views and I had a good time just getting out of the house. So, without further procrastination from yours truly, here are the pictures of the day.

Back in Time

Dear Reader, The time has come again to look back on last year and look ahead to this next year: 2015! Yes, this is the year that Marty McFly comes to the future from his home in 1985, but that doesn't come for a few months (October 21st, to be exact). If you have no idea who Marty McFly is, go watch " Back to the Future ." In honor of the new year, I wanted to share a quick summary of what I hope to accomplish this year. Every year, I implement something I learned from my seminary teacher years ago. He showed us a scripture in the book of Luke about Jesus Christ's life: " And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man." (Luke 2:52) It is interesting to note that this scripture is basically the only knowledge we have of Christ's life between the ages of 12 and 30, when he begins his ministry on the earth. My seminary teacher took this scripture and uses it to plan out new year resolutions. He makes a goal for of th...
