Hey Yall,
Wow, this week has been really off with the weather. Monday and Tuesday were both really rainy and stormy and we actually lost power in the house for 5 whole seconds. It was the first time I was about to use my flashlight. That poor little thing has been sitting on my study table ever since the MTC. I always put it there and he finally about to be used...then no. The power went out while we were writing in the Area Book and came back on always immediately. The rain is very rough here.
We are also receiving a new schedule here in the mission. Up until May, the mission schedule was rising at 7, leaving the house after studying at 11 and returning at 10(unless teaching a lesson:10:30). Every thing is moving up a half hour when day light savings begins here in Chile. The Chilean Government moved the change to May 7, and now the mission is going to change as well. We are going to rise at 6:30, leave the house at 10:30 and return at 9:30. More early mornings...it might be a little rough on some missionaries. I don't know of many missionaries that get up before 8 in the first place...oh well.
There are two look-alikes for this week. One finally clicked in my head after being here for a month. There is a Sister named Sandra who looks exactly like My aunt Liz. She doesn't act quite the same, but they look alike. The other look alike for the week is a kid we saw in the street the other day. I have no idea who he is, but he reminded me of my cousin Brady. Weird, huh?
The challenge for everyone who reads this message this week: Read Jacob chapter 2 in the Book of Mormon. Pay attention to the words he uses and why he is talking about what he talks about.
This week in sacrament meeting was beyond a miracle. Normally we have just under 20 people coming to church. This week we not only broke 20, but almost doubled the attendance! There were 34 people in Sacrament meeting! Granted, there were a few from the stake, including a member of the stake presidency, but there were all kinds of member families that returned to church. We had a great sacrament meeting and Sunday school afterwards when we talked about the parable of the Good Samaritan.
We also met a great guy named Jose on Wednesday. He knows about the church of Jesus Christ and even has a book of Mormon that his friend in the navy gave him years ago. Although, he says it is just like the Chronicles of Narnia or Harry Potter. We are going to visit him this week to find out what he means more fully and tell him the message that we have to share.
Thats about it for this week! Have a great one and we will talk again soon!
