Hey Yall,
This week has been amazing! We had another baptism, a ping pong tournament and I´m playing the piano in sacrament meeting again. We´ll see how that goes for all of us...
As for the Baptism, we had a great time with Luis. He´s an eighteen year-old kid who´s dating a member. He was taking the lessons for her I think, but then he finally read the book of Mormon. He read it and now he says it´s like breakfast for him: the day goes horrible without reading. He´s got such a strong knowledge of the truthfulness of the Gospel. It´s amazing how the power of the spirit works. He got Baptized on Saturday! His family and the Branch President came and I had the privilege of entering the water for the first time in my Mission. :)
Better news this week! Remember Cecilia and Marcelo from Temuco?! She called me the other day! Apparently Elder Kamalu went to go visit them in his final days before going home(he goes home in July, but Elder Kamalu is always planning ahead) and she went through a lot of Trouble to find the number of where I am. We talked a few minutes and We´re going to visit her one day when I´m closer to Temuco. :)
Like mentioned above, we had a ping pong tournament with the Young Men. I lost in the second round, but it was a good fight. We played best of 3 games to 7 and it was 1-1 with a final score of 7-5 in the third game. Cool, huh? Chileans really know how to smack a ball of plastic.
The funny experience of the week: I got splashed by a bus. You know those movies where an actor gets splashed by a bus driving through a puddle of water? Yeah, that happened to me on the way home from Church the other day. It wasn't so bad because I had my rain coat on, but my pants were soaked. It was a pure movie moment.
Elder May, Elder Swenson and I are having a good time this cambio. They both want to know more about music, so we´re learning together. I´m teaching the notes and stuff, Elder Swensons teaching piano techniques and Elder May teaches guitar technique. We're all learning a lot with our talents here in the mission. :)
The weirdest experience of the week was a conference we had. We were discussing ideas on how to knock doors more effectively, so we went out to practice in the neighborhood around the chapel we were meeting in. Imagine that: 80-90 missionaries out in a little neighborhood around a church in Concepcion. Obviously we knocked on Some doors where missionaries had already passed 2 or 3 times that day. We learned a lot. I got to be companions with one of my MTC buddies for those couple of hours, Elder Allen. :)
So, that's us for the week, I´ll keep you updated on how the work is going! For this week, I challenge everyone to read Galations 5:22-23 to try recognizing the spirit in their live more.

Para Siempre Dios esté con vos!

Am I Proud to Be an American?

This weekend is the 4th of July, or Independence Day in the United States of America. One of my favorite songs during this time of celebrating the country is "God Bless the USA." The words paint a detailed picture of the beauty of the United States, both in a physical and emotional aspect. Our country is often depicted in a majestic manner such as this, making it seem like the greatest in the world and we often hear those bold words, "I'm proud to be an American."  With all of the issues that have been cropping up over the past couple of years such as impeachment, systemic racism, foreign intervention, and most significantly the COVID-19 pandemic, I have reflected deeply about what we celebrate with the 4th of July. These issues are just a few of the many that have made me wonder about the country we praise so proudly.  Am I really proud to be an American?  Thomas Jefferson wrote the candid words of the Declaration of Independence, which were th...

I like Happiness

Dear Readers, Happiness is great, don't you agree? Just the other night, it was a very frustrating and confusing night out with the Ensemble yet again, but I came back to my friend's house to hang out and just decided that being happy was more important than giving in to my gossiping desires. The rest of the night was just brilliant after I decided that. This morning was another example: I woke up late and was again frustrated. What did I do? I went to school and decided to be happy. The rest of the day went great! Be Happy! :D

When You Wish Upon a Star

Dear Reader, One short day in the [Segovia] City! It is a beautiful city, to be sure. As part of our study abroad program in Spain, our group takes various trips to different cities here in Spain to see museums, palaces and history from several different eras of humanity. Today it was a pleasure to travel to Segovia. We had several adventures while we were there. First off, we stopped off at the Palacio de la Granja (Palace of the Farm). It was an attempt to replicate the Palace of Versailles in France back in the 18th century. We weren't able to enter the palace itself, but we spent about an hour walking around the numerous gardens on the south side of the palace. The palace gardens awesome. The pictures taken here don't do it justice. The gardens stretched father than you can see and the statues were absolutely beautiful. They were representations of hunting on the grounds with dogs, Greek Gods, and other famous figures from the middle ages. However, despit...
