Hey Yall,
This week has been a big eye-opener. I've realized that the mission is living the Gospel. Just finding out how it works in everyone else's life. But, we've had great experiences this week between a new family in the ward and getting cambios.
I'm leaving Santa Barbara! I'm heading off to the Zone of Coronel. The new sector is called Camilo 2, but I don´t know if Camilo is a city or ward or what. I know that it's near the coast and we're going to have a fun cambio with Elder May! From what I've heard, this is his first cambio as a senior companion and that he has just over a year in the mission. We'll see what happens this week when I meet him tomorrow. :)
We went to Elder Cottrell's first Interview as a district leader. The district leaders interview the people that are preparing for baptism, so we went to Nacimiento, the town where the Sisters work. We met up with them after 2 hours of travel to get there and went to go find David, the bum the sisters have pulled off the street. He wasn't in the shack the member had offered him, so we went to the church and found him a little under the weather. We found out that he had been drinking that day. So we then had a long time deciding whether he should be baptized the next day or not. He ended up not getting baptized, but the sisters are setting another goal with him. We left Nacimiento at about 9:15 and got to Los Angeles right as the last bus for Santa Barbara was leaving at 10. We literally got off the bus from Nacimiento and ran to get the attention of the Santa Barbara bus that was pulling out of the station as we were pulling in. Great day, huh?
The funny story for the week was Elder Cottrell getting mad in the shower. It was really funny because the water kept turning off randomly and finally Elder Cottrell got so mad that he punched the wall and let off a long string of fake swear words. It was hilarious.
Today was the experience of the day when we went to find a member family that recently moved here to Santa Barbara. They told us how to get to the house outside of town in the "Campo". We took the right bus, but got off early, so we ended up hiking another 2 miles or so to their house. It was a great time being out in the middle of nowhere. :)
Hope you're all doing well! Remember to Read the Book of Mormon 10 minutes a day!
