Let´s stick together, yeah yeah yeah‏

Hey Yall,
Well, cambios are upon us and Elder Brann and I are staying together here in Coronel. Elder Gonzalez is leaving and Elder Leiva is coming to be with Elder Camargo for his 2nd cambio here in Chile. There are all sorts of new people coming, I think about 19. We're going to have all kinds of new people in our zone again, which is a relief because our zone is really old as of right now. Actually, the entire mission is really old considering that about 50 missionaries are going home in the next 2 or 3 cambios. Wow, time flies fast.
As for this week, we've had a an interesting one. We met a guy in the street the other day that said,¨See those trees over there? About 30 years ago all the trees were my idea. I'm also building a jet with 4 jet turbines in front and 8 in back. It's going to be the biggest jet in the world!" Needless to say, this guy was nuts. He talked about the french people 800 years before Christ...planning to kill him then. He's a little out of it obviously. It made us laugh, though.
We also met Juana this week. She and her brother, Patricio, live together in Camilo with Juana's daughter. Recently their mom died and so we're helping realize the importance of God in our lives so we know what happens when someone dies. They're progressing well and getting happier every day. Patricio and his friend came to church the other day and couldn't stop smiling. :)
The best idea of the week? Helping Drunks home. We find random drunk guys in our way, so we decide to help them get home if they're stumbling a lot. It was nice because that's how we find some of good investigators. We´re having a good time with it.
Elder Gonzalez had a brilliant idea to feed the flies in the house to the spiders out in the garage. It's cool, actually. They live in little holes and pop out to pounce at whatever comes near their hole. So, we put the flies on a stick and wiggled them near the hole. Elder Gonzalez...I don't know where he comes up with some things...
The best story of the week? Well, we were walking down the train tracks the other day and heard someone yell, "Hey! What are you doing, Brother?" But in English. I was about to turn and respond "nada", but we discovered that it was an American guy with his wife. We talked with them(In English, that was weird) and found out they're from Arizona and they're here for work. We're pretty sure he´s like a seventy or something like that. We didn't even ask if they were members, but we assume they were. They asked about what there was too see where we are. There´s not a whole lot. We thought it was a really funny time.
The Look-Alikes for the week:
First, we Saw Jimmy Miller waiting at the bus stop the other day. We know because Elder Brann went to USU before the mission and knew Jimmy. They lived the same hall, I think. Anyway, he pointed the guy out to me and I said,"wow, you're right. That IS jimmy!"
Second, we discovered that there is a girl in the super market that looks exactly like my good friend Amelia. Yep, she works in Lider, the supermarket here. Again, Elder Brann was the one who pointed her out. The likeness was uncanny.
That's about it for this week! Keep reading the scriptures every day! Elder Packer said so!

You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breath, shine like gold...

Dear Readers, Ok, so I can't fit the entire title into the title box. It's a good song, go look it up: "You make me smile." The title can apply to anyone, I've found. The rest of the lyrics would probably refer to a best friend or a significant other, but anyone can make you smile. They all have the own way of doing it. Some are just funny all the time and you can't help smiling when you're around that person. I know some who take care of people so well that you just smile when they're doing something for another. Others you can talk to about your problems and no matter what they say, it seems to make sense and you feel better...thus a smile. Ok, a smile doesn't always come in that case, but people usually smile after that. Anyone can have a blonde moment and make everyone smile because of it. I'm glad I've got friends who can do all of these: have blonde moments, take care of others or have an episode of hyperactivity that you can't he...

Am I Proud to Be an American?

This weekend is the 4th of July, or Independence Day in the United States of America. One of my favorite songs during this time of celebrating the country is "God Bless the USA." The words paint a detailed picture of the beauty of the United States, both in a physical and emotional aspect. Our country is often depicted in a majestic manner such as this, making it seem like the greatest in the world and we often hear those bold words, "I'm proud to be an American."  With all of the issues that have been cropping up over the past couple of years such as impeachment, systemic racism, foreign intervention, and most significantly the COVID-19 pandemic, I have reflected deeply about what we celebrate with the 4th of July. These issues are just a few of the many that have made me wonder about the country we praise so proudly.  Am I really proud to be an American?  Thomas Jefferson wrote the candid words of the Declaration of Independence, which were th...

That's What Makes the World Go 'Round!

Dear Reader, Bonus points go to whoever can name what movie today's song title comes from. Comment below to submit your answers. Today I wanted to give you an update on the great " ALS Ice Bucket Challenge " that is taking the internet by storm. What started as a small campaign to raise awareness and funds for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) has grown and caused thousands of people to dump ice or ice water over their heads. That is how it works: one person nominates another to the challenge. That nominated person then has 24 hours to either donate $100 to the ALS foundation or have a bucket of ice dumped over their head. I would like to think most people are both accepting the ice bucket challenge and donating to charity. I won't judge, though. With all of this publicity that the ALS campaign has received, it made me think of other fads that people participated in during the 1920s and 1930s. Did you know that people regularly participated...
