Tomorrow, Tomorrow

Hey Yall,

This post is all about Annie...not really, just her song 'Tomorrow.' I really love the part where the music changes to the Bridge and she starts singing, "When I'm stuck with the day that's grey and lonely, I just stick out my chin and grin and say: The sun will come out tomorrow, so we've got to hang on til tomorrow, come what may. Tomorrow, tomorrow, I'll love ya, tomorrow. You're only a day away."

This has been my philosophy for about a week now. The days are literally grey outside here in Provo and sometimes they're a little lonely while working on homework for hours on end(To counteract that, I highly recommend doing homework in the library. Lots of people pass through there and you can take a break to say hi to a long-lost friend or best friend that just happens to walk through). Despite these "grey and lonely days" I just stick out my chin and grin and say something a little different than Annie. Today! Right now! I can make plans, carry out plans, fail plans, re-plan and have lots of fun doing it!

You see, life is 10% what happens to you and 90% what you make of it. This is especially true in agreement with something we talked about in my Doctrine and Covenants class yesterday. The teacher asked some questions about why God, if he knows what we're going to do before we do it, why does he let us do something wrong?  Well, one of the ideas tossed around is that before this life in the pre-mortal existence, we chose what things we would face in this life. Christ told us that it would be hard and that we would have agency, but we accepted the plan anyway. We accepted to face trials, mess up, etc. We also accepted to get back up on our feet, get back on the road and put a smile back on our face. :)

So, the 10% that happens to us was already decided long ago, before our birth. The 90% is how we feel about it and react to it. For as Nephi teaches, "Men are free according to the flesh." Interesting thought, huh?

Am I Proud to Be an American?

This weekend is the 4th of July, or Independence Day in the United States of America. One of my favorite songs during this time of celebrating the country is "God Bless the USA." The words paint a detailed picture of the beauty of the United States, both in a physical and emotional aspect. Our country is often depicted in a majestic manner such as this, making it seem like the greatest in the world and we often hear those bold words, "I'm proud to be an American."  With all of the issues that have been cropping up over the past couple of years such as impeachment, systemic racism, foreign intervention, and most significantly the COVID-19 pandemic, I have reflected deeply about what we celebrate with the 4th of July. These issues are just a few of the many that have made me wonder about the country we praise so proudly.  Am I really proud to be an American?  Thomas Jefferson wrote the candid words of the Declaration of Independence, which were th...

You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breath, shine like gold...

Dear Readers, Ok, so I can't fit the entire title into the title box. It's a good song, go look it up: "You make me smile." The title can apply to anyone, I've found. The rest of the lyrics would probably refer to a best friend or a significant other, but anyone can make you smile. They all have the own way of doing it. Some are just funny all the time and you can't help smiling when you're around that person. I know some who take care of people so well that you just smile when they're doing something for another. Others you can talk to about your problems and no matter what they say, it seems to make sense and you feel better...thus a smile. Ok, a smile doesn't always come in that case, but people usually smile after that. Anyone can have a blonde moment and make everyone smile because of it. I'm glad I've got friends who can do all of these: have blonde moments, take care of others or have an episode of hyperactivity that you can't he...

I Don't Wanna Be Anything Other Than Me

Dear Reader,  I work online at one of my part-time jobs. Sometimes it is required of me to look up a person's credentials or accomplishments to better fill out a description of their time on the radio. This means I do Google searches quite frequently to find their websites, their social media profiles, etc. By no means am I a guru on the world wide web, but I have been around the internet a few times. Why does any of this matter to you, reader? It matters because I have found a few things that are essential to being safe online. As much as anyone hates to admit, the persona built on the web greatly affects the actual person outside of technology. It matters because we need to review the tips on how to remain safe online regularly.  Here is a quick example of how important it is to monitor what you put online. If you put "Dale Lundstrom" into a Google search, there are 743 results as of today. A good number of those have nothing to do with me, it's true. Howe...
