Dear Reader,
Man, have you ever had one of those days that you want to say something to someone so much but when the moment to say it came, you froze? Maybe that question doesn't make a lot of sense. Much like many of my blog posts, today is another day of word-vomiting what I think about a particular situation/subject. The subject today is being straight-forward with how you feel. For a couple weeks I missed something very important: in order to say how you feel, you have to figure out what you are feeling.
That is what happened to me recently. There was a series of several instances where I was too busy trying to figure out how someone else was feeling and I forgot to address what my own feelings were. During a conversation about these emotions, a wrecking-ball came in and smacked me upside the head as if to say, "Dude, you haven't paid any attention to your side of this equation!" I was at a loss of what to say. After the conversation was over, I finally started thinking about what I should have said. Now, this is not a brilliant idea. Thinking about what you should say is something that should come BEFORE a discussion, not after. Anyway, now all I want to do is go tell a certain person exactly how I feel, but this time having the words prepared to share exactly how I'm feeling.
The only worry that comes to mind is that I will freeze when I go to say it. This is where our song lyrics come in today. Sarah Bareilles sings a song entitled "Brave" in which she highlights the importance of just saying what you have in your heart. While singing the song this morning, I thought, "I want to see ME be brave." I am going to be brave.
