Gloria, In Excelsis Deo!

Dear Reader,


Deck the halls with lots of students! Fa la la la la, la la la...way too many students. Here is your fun fact for the day: the Harold B. Lee Library at Brigham Young University becomes one of the busiest places in Utah during December. Students at the University are studying for finals, meeting up with their groups for the final projects and getting those last minute tips from their tutors. They are all in the library. Today I could not find a spot to sit! There is no need to fear, faithful reader. The floor can be a great place to write, as long as there is a wifi connection that provides communication with you.

I realized that this Blog was visited for the 8000th time this week. What a great Christmas present! Thanks to my mom for the 7999 visits! Thank you, dear reader, for the 8000th. I figured that between this milestone and the Christmas season, today is a good day to share my view on Christmas and the reason for the season. So go ahead students, take a break from studying to enjoy yourself. Parents, read to your kids what I am about to tell you. Friends, may you understand the season and celebration a little bit more profoundly.

Christ was born into this world over 2000 years ago. He came as a babe in stable, under humble circumstances. As the Son of God, he grew up and took his role as our Savior, making it possible for us to receive forgiveness for our sins if we accept the offer. He was born of the virgin Mary and gave his life in order to understand us better. 

That is the greatest reason to celebrate this season. As a singer, I love portraying a story or emotion through songs. I love the Christmas Hymns found in the Hymnal of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Despite only singing them over the course of one month every year, I feel like I know the lyrics better to those hymns better than any of the others in that hymnal. 

Angels we have heard on high, sweetly singing o'er the plains
And the mountains in reply, echoing their joyous strains

Gloria, in excelsis deo
Gloria, in excelsis deo

That is a great sight to imagine: the mountains and the angels singing together because they are so happy that the Savior has come to the world. Remember that in between your tests, papers, presentations, and during your family and work parties. Christ, the Savior is born and He lives!

You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breath, shine like gold...

Dear Readers, Ok, so I can't fit the entire title into the title box. It's a good song, go look it up: "You make me smile." The title can apply to anyone, I've found. The rest of the lyrics would probably refer to a best friend or a significant other, but anyone can make you smile. They all have the own way of doing it. Some are just funny all the time and you can't help smiling when you're around that person. I know some who take care of people so well that you just smile when they're doing something for another. Others you can talk to about your problems and no matter what they say, it seems to make sense and you feel better...thus a smile. Ok, a smile doesn't always come in that case, but people usually smile after that. Anyone can have a blonde moment and make everyone smile because of it. I've Been Watching You

Dear Reader, Our little boy has not even arrived yet and I am already feeling the pressure to a good example. All growing up, I was always told to never do anything that I wouldn't want my children to know about/do themselves. "Always be on your best behavior, your children will watch you." I will be honest, I have always agreed with that idea and I think it is a good way to live your life. However, I didn't feel the weight of that responsibility until my wife got pregnant. I feel like I am getting more and more pressure from myself to be a perfect example, even though this little boy hasn't even met me yet. That's why I am relating so much with this song right now. I know, this isn't too deep. I just wanted to share the song more than anything.
