Between the Testaments

Dear Readers, I feel like such a terrible person for putting my thoughts into this kind of phrasing, but I have to say that Religion classes(especially at BYU) are hard. It would be nice to do well and learn everything, but there's no way to learn every single thing taught in my new testament class. We have gone over the 400 years between the Old Testament and the New Testament, including the many different kings and nations that have to do with the tribes of Israel. Needless to say, there are all kinds of names and dates that I will never remember. So, to all of you who said BYU has hard curriculums, you were right. Hopefully it's worth it. :)

Exotic Dreams...

Dear Readers, I dreamed a dream that first of all I was off with friends and enjoying myself quite nicely while we travelled to Logan. When we got to my Grandma's house (Not really my Grandma's house, but my dream told me it was), there was a rat infestation in all the wood walls and ceiling of the Garage. Huge rats, mind you. Now the rats were dangerous because if you tried to enter the house, they would jump out of various holes located in the middle of the floor, the ceiling, under what looked like a bed, and spotting the walls in an effort to attack you and kill you. Being the genius I am, there happened to be various grenades in my bag. In my glorious skill (Remember, this is a dream), I threw grenades into every hole as I ran through the house trying not to get killed. The house, after all the explosions, caught on fire and my friends and I walked through it and saw all the rats' corpses. We put out the fires and fixed up the place. We then proceeded to someone's

First Day of College

Dear Readers, Today I've gained a slight appreciation for having the ability to call something your own. Living away from home, I have somethings around me and things I interact with every day that I can call my own. Take full advantage of having something to call yours. It's a nice feeling. On to the main point of this entry: college life and my roommates. Today I had only one class, so I don't think I've had the entire experience of academic life yet. The class, entitled Physical Science 100, involved a lot of visual demonstration. Dr. Allred lightens up the classroom with very appropriate humor and BYU inside jokes. Needless to say, I don't think this class will provide any problem what-so-ever. My roommates come from all over the place. Tyler originally lived in Park City, not far from us. I don't know much about him due to how little he comes around the apartment. He is most likely a very stand-up guy. Ryan used to be in a band and is an awesome guitar play

College Dorm

Dear Readers, Well, I think this is the umpteenth official thing I've written about involving college, so I'll skip right to what I did today. Before I get to the dorm and my roommates and whatnot, I have to say that Malcolm gave a wonderful talk today, comparing us to cars with spiritual gas tanks. He put it much more eloquently and got his idea and the spirit across very well. Good luck, Malcolm! See you in about two and a half years! My ward seems pretty big down here in Provo. I went to ward prayer in another apartment building and we were all crowded in there. There were some girls who crawled under a chalk board against the wall to make room in the lobby. We listened to our bishopric and their wives tell about themselves and their families. Main lesson learned: stay away from hot tubs and twins(Sorry, Steve). Our dorm has already had many adventures. Someone put nachos in the microwave and left them there until they burst into flames. No worries, there is no visible damag

New Home, New Times

Dear Readers, Yes, it's official. I start classes at BYU on Monday! I moved into my apartment this weekend, but I have yet to meet my roommate. It's pretty funny because he moved in after I left this morning to come spend fathers' day weekend at home. We'll have the pleasure of meeting him tomorrow. :) My Bishopric down in Provo came by our apartment to meet us today and they are a lovely bunch. Our Apartment also has the assignment of giving sunday school lessons for the next few weeks. Unfortunately, I will not be in Provo for those few weeks as I will be coming home to finish Temple Preparation. So wish me luck! Here I go!

Youth Conference

Dear Readers, Today we leave on Youth Conference in our ward. Our schedule includes some service at the temple in Logan, Lessons Learned in Logan(More on that later) and boating up at Bear Lake. We are the mighty youth!

Summer...So confusing

Dear Readers, What a lovely season summer has come to be! Construction season! Haha, don't worry. I don't mind that so much. Summer allows for a lot of time to do many things and the only problem I see with that is what to do first! I've been trying to get ready for a mission, which basically includes scripture study(Longer than usual) every morning and every night and study for spanish speaking(Which, I discovered while talking with someone yesterday, I need to work on incredibly hard). There are many things like getting a passport and writing letters that don't have immediate responses like reading or writing thank you notes for people who have helped me through this time. Going out with people is hard just because everyone has jobs and they all work at different times. But hanging out with friends is so much fun and very enjoyable. We made lists of what to do this summer, but I'm kind of confused because we didn't set any dates for doing things. One of our go

When you don't know how you got there

Dear Readers, You have all probably heard one saying or another about knowing where you're going after knowing where you've been. Well, I'm here to tell you that the saying, however the wiseman worded it, is true. If you don't know how you got somewhere, it will be a lot harder to get where you want to go. Take one thing in your life that you've had for awhile and you remember when it first became part of your life. Music is a good example in mine. I remember the first time I picked up a trumpet an played it. I remember the first time I played a duet with my sister on the piano. I remember the first Music class I had. It's the middle of my life when it gets fuzzy. How did music go from this great thing I enjoyed in every way into a thing where I want to make a living off of it? It used to be a pastime or hobby. Now music ranks as one of the most important things in life. Back to the point, some things in life you lose sight of why you have it or how important it

Post Graduation

Dear Readers, I now understand many things. Not nearly everything, but a lot. It now being a couple of days after graduation, I can completely understand those people who somehow have nothing to do other than going to work. I'm sorry for ever thinking they were crazy. Good thing there's a mission to prepare for! There are so many things to do! I never realized that receiving a call was so much work, but it's all in the work for going. There are immunizations to get, passports to sign and lots of people to call and thank. That's just receiving a call. Good thing I've got my parents who have gone through this once already. Although, the first one didn't go to a South American country where there are several problems. Mail is more complicated, travel with be more difficult and there will be no packages from home because, according to a friend who's son served in South America, packages always get lost or stolen in the packaging services. Yep. I'm excited. :

Last Night

Dear Readers, Now, the title refers to both last night as the night before today and as the name of the event I attended at the high school after graduation yesterday. Let me tell you, it was not what I expected. I am certainly my friends were there, or it would have been no fun whatsoever. Yes, there was a mechanical bull that I rode for about three seconds. There was a cash cube that most people came out of with about two dollars. Mini Golf? Pretty lame, I must say. Yet the biggest let down of the night was the "Let's make a deal" game. There were supposedly twelve Apple Products to win as the big prizes of the night, but they were all a play on words. Laura got an I-Pad. Or should I say 'eye-pad.' it was a binder with a bunch of eyes glued on the front. Although, Julia did get some speakers for her ipod. Thank goodness for my friends that were there. They had a bunch of laughs with me and we had races on the big blow up toys. And sorry, I beat my best friend in

In a very excited response

Dear Readers, Well, in my last post I told you of such joyous news and awaiting a mission call. I'M A GRADUATE OF OLYMPUS! I HAVE MY DIPLOMA! That's very exciting news if you didn't know and I congratulate all the fellow students who graduated today and will party it up tonight! Even better news: I'M GOING TO CHILE ON MY MISSION! I can't wait to serve the people there and grow even closer to the lord. My mission is Chile, Concepcion South mission spanish speaking. I'm so excited that I have been bouncing up and down for the past two days. Life is awesome! :)

Here it comes!

Dear Readers, Sorry, I don't have much time to write(I'm pretty sick of writing due to a five-page paper I wrote today, too). Although, I do have to inform you of two fantastic pieces of news. First, Graduation is two days away! I'm so excited! Then it's the last night party and it will be great! Second, I may get my mission call tomorrow. :) It may come Thursday because of the mail system, but it is in the mail already. I have an in with the mailing process down at Church Headquarters. Hehe. I can't wait to see it! I can't wait to go serve! AH!
