Hey Yall, Wow, what a week it's been. Elder Bustos is leaving me this cambio to go die over in Temuco. He's going to live in a house with another Elder that's dying this next cambio, too. By dying I mean their going home, because by no means is Elder Bustos dying. My question for the week: Does the Cottrell family have a relative serving here in Chile? Because Elder Cottrell is going to be my new companion in Santa Barbara. Elder Aaron Cottrell. He's going to be District leader here and apparently has been in the mission a little over a year. He came in the group of missionaries that arrived just after the Earthquake of 2010. We're going to get a lot done this cambio. We know that the second coming is still a year away, because I saw at least three rainbows this week. It's been raining like none other and there was one day when we walked around in it all day, from 3 until 9. Needless to say Elder Bustos and I got soaked to the bone, but we're both fin
Hey Yall, Wow, this week has been really off with the weather. Monday and Tuesday were both really rainy and stormy and we actually lost power in the house for 5 whole seconds. It was the first time I was about to use my flashlight. That poor little thing has been sitting on my study table ever since the MTC. I always put it there and he finally about to be used...then no. The power went out while we were writing in the Area Book and came back on always immediately. The rain is very rough here. We are also receiving a new schedule here in the mission. Up until May, the mission schedule was rising at 7, leaving the house after studying at 11 and returning at 10(unless teaching a lesson:10:30). Every thing is moving up a half hour when day light savings begins here in Chile. The Chilean Government moved the change to May 7, and now the mission is going to change as well. We are going to rise at 6:30, leave the house at 10:30 and return at 9:30. More early mornings...it might be a litt
Hey Yall, Well, this week has been a little slow in the work, but we had some wonderful experiences. We've been giving more service and having fun with member families. You see, the membership here in Santa Barbara, as we found out yesterday, is more than 10 times the attendance on Sunday. There are 260 members and we haven´t had over 20 in the church since I've been here. Talk about the need for Permaneced. Permaneced is a program for helping members stay active in the church here in Chile. It was introduced about a year ago and is working pretty well if you do it right. I had the epiphany the other day that members are just like investigators, just with a baptism to their name. We're are all still learning every day things from the gospel. Anyway, this week we met another crazy person like the guy that doesn't believe in prophets. We were knocking doors one day and a lady came out to talk to us. She started going off about how she was born Catholic, raised Cath

Come listen to a prophet's voice

Hey Yall, So there isn't a whole lot to write about this week. We did a lot, don't worry, but I don't know what to write about it. I guess we'll start with the intercambio we had with the zone leaders. I spent the day in LA with Elder Elder. That sentence says a lot. Elder Austin Elder is from Nibley, Utah and thinks he knows the Lundstroms in Paradise, but he's not sure. Anyway, I came to work with him in the sector of San Martin on Tuesday while Elder Filamita, the other zone Leader, went to Santa Barbara with Elder Bustos. We had quite a few interesting experiences. First off, we went to visit a member family for lunch, who's son/brother is currently serving a mission in Bolivia. While serving, he and his companion were interviewed for some news program about the church. They basically gave the lessons of Preach My Gospel as an answer to the questions that came up which is good. We watched the interview while we ate (we had a lot of food) and gave t
