Family Home Evening

Hey y'all, I hate wouping little kids in ping pong. :) Haha, we had a Family night in the branch this week and I played a bunch of little kids in Ping Pong and I was struggling to lose. They all played and could serve pretty well, but return a serve...well, I only had to defend one return... The rest of the week went well. Daniela and Maria Theresa are progressing well. Daniela basically teaches us about the principles of Faith, Repentance and Hope. They read the Book of Mormon and love it. They just can´t reach the church...however, they said they would come if we could get Sergio to go one week. New Goal: Sergio. Let´s do it. :) Keep reading your scriptures daily! Keep Praying daily!´´

Have I told you about Romeo?

Hey Yall, We talked with the owner of a dog this week. That dog is named Romeo. He´s a member of the Church. :) Haha,it´s the story they told me when I first got here to Curacautin and they told me they tossed him into the baptismal font one day. Haha, it´s a funny story. Anyway, Romeo always comes to church and actually has spent a good time with us while we´ve been in the office sometimes. :) The other funny story for this week is about Sebastian, Natali´s son. Natali is the girl that got baptized recently and she told us that she was walking down the street where the church is with Sebastian and a couple of his friends when one of them said, "There´s the church!" Pointing at the Methodist Church across the street. Sebastian replied, "No...there´s the true church. The MORMONS are the true church." They then started arguing about churches. Imagine, a couple of 4 year olds fighting about which church is true. Have a great week and read your scriptures!

Get Me to the Church on time

Well, we had an interesting experience this week. We're teaching a young couple here in Curacautin named Silvia and Renaldo. We've talked about them getting married so they can get baptized. When Elder Rabanales and I were talking about what we could do to help them the other day, the thought came to mind: Why can't I perform the marriage ceremony so they can save a little money and we can do it in the chapel? So, we looked it up. Excitingly we found out that branch presidents, yes, can perform marriage ceremonies civilly. YAY! However...not in Chile. The laws about marriage in Chile are dumb. Until a few years ago divorce was impossible. Now it's only ALMOST impossible. There's still a million things one has to do to get it done. Apart from that, the Chilean Law does not yet allow for Ecclesiastical Leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ to perform Civil Marriage ceremonies. Darn...maybe next time. Remember: "When you are in the service of your fellow beings, y

Conference and Drunks

Hey Y'all, Now I'll tell you all about how my life was changed by the mere talk given by Elder Hallstrom in conference. It's excellent. :) As many of you will recall, he talked about being active in the church and being active in the Gospel. It hit me and changed my entire line of thinking that those two things are different. The Gospel is the plan of Salvation with all its commandments and covenants, while the church of Jesus Christ is the organization on earth that has the authority of God to administer said Gospel. It was an amazing talk. I hope you all loved it. :) As for this week it was interesting because the assistants called us and said, "Elders, we've been fasting and we feel that there is one person in Curacautin that is going to accept a date to be baptized today." So, we started inviting everyone to be baptized. I mean, EVERYONE. At the end of the day, we talked with good ol' Sergio, who happens to be a habitual drinker. However, his answer wa

Conference

Wow, what a conference. Get married, have kids, do it in the right order and don't abuse the priesthood. Good summary, huh? Haha, I know there's so much more than that but we're a little limited on time this week, so we'll give a good summary of conference next week. All you need to know now is that President Monson stole my purple tie for conference. :) Oh, and I got a bad haircut...we'll see if we take pictures anytime soon...
