You're never fully dressed without a smile

Hey Y'all, Have you ever heard the advice that states, "Always smile. You never know who's falling in love with your smile"? Optimism is a very attractive thing. Annie had it right when she sang "You're never fully dressed without a smile." It doesn't mean you have to be happy-go-lucky all day every day. It just means you take what life gives you and throw a positive spin on it. Good advice, Annie. :) Some may say, "Dale, you just don't understand. I just can't do this" or possibly, "I'm hurt more than I've ever been before. It's so hard to get past this." Well, I'm here to say that's what the Gospel is for. As a disclaimer, I will never say anything in life is easy. We all face extremely difficult things. However, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the way we can move forward, no matter what. The bottom line of this Gospel? "Keep your head up. Keep smiling. It'll get better. You will   be bette

You can learn to do it, too!

Hey Y'all, "If I can learn to do it, you can learn to do it. Something in you knows it: there's nothing to it!" This is just a slight portion of the lyrics of our lovable movie "Anastasia." This is a lovely little part in the story when Anastasia discovers that being a Romanov Princess is difficult, but possible. Especially since she knows a good portion of what she needs to know in the first place. However, it doesn't matter where we are now, we can progress. I would say the most frustrating thing in the world is not making progress. After all, isn't one of the biggest parts of our goal here on earth to begin our eternal progression and get better everyday. You see, Anastasia thought it was insane to think she could be a princess or learn to be one. However, in the end of the movie, she learns that she was a princess all along. She just needed to realize it. I've made lots of progression recently. By recently we're talking about a week

Tomorrow, Tomorrow

Hey Yall, This post is all about Annie...not really, just her song 'Tomorrow.' I really love the part where the music changes to the Bridge and she starts singing, "When I'm stuck with the day that's grey and lonely, I just stick out my chin and grin and say: The sun will come out tomorrow, so we've got to hang on til tomorrow, come what may. Tomorrow, tomorrow, I'll love ya, tomorrow. You're only a day away." This has been my philosophy for about a week now. The days are literally grey outside here in Provo and sometimes they're a little lonely while working on homework for hours on end(To counteract that, I highly recommend doing homework in the library. Lots of people pass through there and you can take a break to say hi to a long-lost friend or best friend that just happens to walk through). Despite these "grey and lonely days" I just stick out my chin and grin and say something a little different than Annie. Today! Right now!

Secret Prayer

Hey Yall, Wow, school is pretty interesting! Having 6 classes can sure tire a person out, but never fear. Dale is always up for a challenge! This week has been a blast to know how many people are achieving so many great things down here in Provo. Even though I don't see all of it, I know it's happening. Friends are taking on their classes with renewed confidence, mission brothers are adjusting to their own lives outside of Chile and Dale is taking the time to make some changes. Why is he making these changes? What are these changes? Well, the answer to the second question you'll just have to pay attention if you want to know the answer. The first question: why is he making these changes? Well, there is a phenomenon happening down here is Provo for Dale that is both good and bad. There is a sense of being alone down here, despite of how many people around me are great people and I know them well. It is necessary to clarify that this feeling is not loneliness, just a sens

After today!

Hey Yall, Hopefully you recognize the reference from the Goofy Movie. Yes, after today I'm gonna be cruisin'! Classes start tomorrow and we're going to have a great time. This weekend has been fun, getting to know my roommates and ward members. I've discovered that the vast majority of our ward here is bilingual. It's fun to practice spanish with roommates and friends. Best part of all? Tunnel singing! Wahoo! That's right. I'm going to go sing hymns with a bunch of BYU students on a sunday night. :) Great times, right? As for today, I'm just going to share that this semester is going to be awesome! I'm already loving the lifestyle of being basically on my own. Last night I went to bed early after reading a good portion of a good book and tonight I'm going to sing for 2 hours. :) This is the life.

Should old Acquaintance be forgot...

Hey yall, Happy New Year! I do apologize for not writing sooner. Not too long, I know. However, I feel like a million things have happened since the last time I spoke to you last. We talk very serious things here. I try not to put my problems. Why? Because life is beautiful! That's why! This new year we have to enjoy is going to be filled with a million and half adventures. The best part of all those adventures? I don't have to experience them alone. Actually, the best part is sharing them with other people. Then hearing about their adventures. Then it gets even better when two people share an adventure and they share it with a third party. The adventures of this year are done and most have been closed off. This new year is another opportunity to 'Arise and Seize the Day' as Newsies put it. There is a new semester of School starting, which has long been awaited by Dale. New semester, new classes, new friends and much more new knowledge and wisdom. A new adventure wi
