Marry Me

Dear Reader, Temples are amazing. They are the only place where a man and a woman can be sealed together forever by the power of the priesthood. I was able to witness this firsthand on Saturday when my roommate and his wife knelt across the alter in the Timpanogos Temple as they were sealed for eternity. There was so much happiness in that sealing room during the ceremony. As the couple walked in, there was a huge smile on both their faces. Jacob (My roommate) and I have known each other for a long time. I was actually on his first date with McKay (his wife). Don't worry; it was a double date. That night as we were talking about dating and what we liked about the date that day I told him, "I like you two. There is a good feeling about her." Sure enough, just over 5 months later they are now sealed for all eternity through and by the power of the priesthood. Of course we also enjoyed their reception later that night, but I was enjoying the fact that they are perf

Save the Last Dance for Me

Dear Reader, Dating. Dancing. Dating a dancer. Dancing on a date. Dancing with a dancer on a date in the dance hall that is meant for dating. Ok, that's the last one. Right now I am attending a beginning social dance class and the comparisons between dancing and dating seem never-ending! Guys should not try anything the girl doesn't want to do/isn't ready for. In dancing, a really good leader can take a girl through lots of dance steps she doesn't know or is not prepared for. Likewise, a gentleman always ta

Then Conquer We Must When Our Cause it is Just

Dear Reader, Can you guess where the song lyrics in today's title come from? It comes from the National Anthem of the United States of America. "What are you talking about, Dale?" Well, they come from one of the other verses that we hardly (if ever) sing at sporting events or other ceremonies. Read these lyrics: Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light  What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?  Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,  O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?  And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,  Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.  Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave  O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?  Those lyrics you know. How about these? On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering st
