Ever Ever After

Dear Reader, That song title just happens to be the song playing on ITunes right now, so instead of trying to pick a song for a topic, let's try picking a topic from a random song. Why? Because it is that type of day today. It is the type of day where a person does something just because he can. Obviously that person doesn't do anything illegal or harmful; he or she just does something just to do it. In accordance with that, let's talk about 'Ever Ever After.' It's a concept that all of us hear from the early years of our childhood. Very few children reach adulthood without hearing a story that ends with the phrase, "And they lived happily ever after." We all hope to reach that 'ever after.' The question I want to ask is this: what is that 'ever after'? The answer? It depends on the person. Some people want to live happily ever after with the love of their life. Others want to achieve a great family life and raise children. There

Puppy Love

Dear Reader, Today was probably the most interesting experience of the week. Upon arriving at the Missionary Training Center today, I ran across a sister that has known me since elementary school. We talked for a few minutes and explained to her companion how we knew each other. Suddenly she said, "Ok, I have really something really awkward to say. You were my first snowball." Now, this came as a surprise to me. Allow me to explain. At classic skating, they have what they have the snowball skate where you ask someone of the opposite sex to skate around with you (There can even be hand-holding involved). Apparently when I was in 5th grade and she was in 4th, we went to classic skating and I asked her to snowball with me. I remember said trip to classic skating, but I had no idea that I was the first person to ask her. Her mentioning this in conversation was not awkward for me, but it made me think of the little things in life that we remember. Sometimes they don't co

What do you want from me?

Dear Reader, Some songs are written and people wonder how/why the song was written. For example, yesterday I was listening to "The Lazy Song" by Bruno Mars. He sings, "Today I don't feel like doing anything...nothing at all." I see no point in this song. To me it provokes all excuses to be a slothful member of society. This, like many other songs, seem to be pretty pointless. It is hard to relate with them. Such was the case with "What do you want from me?" by Adam Lambert. I don't really like the song particularly, but I finally understand the feeling behind some of the lyrics. Mostly the words, "What do you want from me?" I can relate with those lyrics because of this week. There are some things that I do during the week that have to be done according to the taste of several different people. What really gets my goat is when those people can't agree on what they want. Thus, when it comes time to actually perform the task, one

It's the Morning report!

Dear Reader, For those who haven't seen The Lion King  as a live musical production, today's title comes from one of the first songs in the show when Zazu and Simba are talking with Mufasa about what is going on in the animal kingdom. I use it today because my morning report is not very good. This morning I woke up incredibly late (About 10:45). I was not happy. Luckily, there was no pressing matter to attend to this morning. On the other hand, it is not the most pleasant experience to waste three or four hours in the morning on sleeping. If I had it my way everyday, which rarely happens, the morning report would look something like this: 7:00 AM - Wake up/Shower/Eat Breakfast 8:00 AM - Read for about an hour (Preferably from the scriptures) 9:00 AM - Write something. This something can be a letter to a missionary, a blog post or even an entry in a journal 10:00 AM through 4:00 PM - Whatever activity is pressing that day. This may include cleaning, reading for work, sh

You are 16 going on 17

Dear Reader, Today is a special day for this girl: It's her birthday! Although she is not 16 going on 17 as the title suggests, she has her big day which I hope she is enjoying over in Spain as she serves the Lord as a full-time missionary. One of the first times I really got to know her was her 16th birthday party, which was a blast! We have done so much together. Thanks to her for many good laughs and great things learned. Happy Birthday, Amelia!

Welcome, Welcome, Sabbath Morning

Dear Readers, Sunday has become my new favorite day. It is impossible to say when this occurred, but Sunday is definitely at the top of the list now. The day is normally filled with a million things to do such as tunnel singing, devotionals, church meetings and home-teaching. All starts off well by getting up early and enjoying the morning silence and beauty. That is how my Sunday started out yesterday. I woke up and rode my bike around before coming back to a certain spot and slipping in and out of consciousness for a couple of hours. Around 12:30 I got around to putting the ward bulletin together for church at 1:30, which consisted of three wonderfully spirit-filled hours. Sacrament Meeting was great, but bittersweet. Brother Kunz and his wife will be leaving us due to the fact that he is being released from the Bishopric. We will now have Brother Adamson and his wife to be part of our ward family. While they were all sharing their testimonies, it was great to sit there and write

We like to Party!

Dear Reader, Man, we had a blast last night. Have you ever gone skittle bowling? I highly recommend it. It is a great way to have fun without worrying over how you look. That is exactly what my roommate and I did on a double date last night at the WILK. Let me explain... You take a bag of skittles candy and make a list of different ways to bowl. For example, if you draw a red, you have to bowl right handed, but if you draw a green, you have to bowl left handed. It all depends on what you make your list out as. Last night we had to bowl between our legs and our date's legs. As seen in the picture, we also had team throws, but doing it backward. We did pretty well, despite not being able to bowl properly. Give it a try sometime. It is a party.

I'm gonna be a mighty king!

Dear Reader, The song for today is not really associated with how I feel, but it comes close. I talked to my supervisor today at the Missionary Training Center and realized that I have a lot of influence of what goes on with our crew at work. She was asking me for all these suggestions about how things should be done and I was taken aback by how much my opinion matters. Our conversation today made me feel pretty important. On the flip side of that conversation, we also talked about the changes that will be coming up in the coming weeks to different stations. I will most likely be working more and more upstairs in the Training Center, rather than in the laundry room where I have been forever. The laundry room is a good job, don't get me wrong. My supervisor will most likely move me to a different area of work, though. This line of thinking is all based on our conversation from today. I also feel like I have a lot of influence because of my ward. I talk with a lot of people. It

Under my Umbrella-ella

Dear Reader, I love the rain in Summer. Yes, I have been outside partying at 2 AM in the middle of a rainstorm. The warm precipitation feels heavenly after a day of good work. The weather right now in Provo envelopes so many emotions and sensations. The wind pushes through the streets, but not violently. The rain falls hard, but not with roughness. It is a pleasantry to stand out on a balcony or on a street corner listening to the wonders that our Heavenly Father has created. A storm such as this seems to cap off what has been a week of simple wonders. The week started off with different adventures at work and in the ward. On Sunday I was introduced to two highly amicable young ladies that recently moved into the ward. We have become fast friends. One studies marketing and the other elementary education. They are wonderful to have around and make me smile beyond belief. We talked until 2 or 3 in the morning a couple of days ago. How is that for being fast friends? I lived a dream

Don't you worry 'bout a thing

Dear Reader, Don't worry about a thing! Life is wonderful! Ok, so today I was watching "Hitch," the Will Smith-Comedy in which he plays a secret match-maker in New York City. The song title for the day comes from that movie. It really is a good movie. I was watching with some coworkers right after talking to them about marriage. Don't worry, I'm not getting married anytime soon. We were discussing different ways to propose and different things to avoid when planning a wedding. Final conclusion: I'm going to wear my purple tie at my wedding. Haha, we have so much fun. It was a fun day with my coworkers. We went to Seven Peaks water park this morning and had a wonderful day in the water. I got a great sunburn. :) I have to shout out to Shannon and Kyle for being so awesome today. When we actually got to work, my coworker and I started talking about chick-flicks and relationships. She has a wonderful outlook on getting married and it is understandable why s
