Hey Yall, We finally had a Baptism! Better yet, it was Rosa who got Baptized! Rosa was baptized on Saturday by Elder Sanjines, the elder who found her and her cousin in the street almost seven months ago. I preformed the confirmation along with the first counselor in the Bishopric on Sunday. We are definitely really excited to have a new member of the ward. And, I don't know when it will happen, but I'm sure Rosa's example will have an effect on her parents, too. Funny story from after the Baptism. The baptismal font in our chapel is dysfunctional with the pipes and the mechanism that works the tap to stop the water doesn't work. So every baptism we just stuff a bunch of clothes inside a plastic bag and shove it in the drain to plug the water. The funny part is that Elder Sanjines forgot to take out the bag while he was in the font and we didn't realize until after he had left. So, I had fun going swimming! (No, that is not against mission rules. I went bathing.) An
Hey Yall! This week has been an exciting week of firsts. Por Fin, Rosa is getting baptized on Saturday. She finally decided it´s the right thing to do, so we´re getting ready for Saturday. Her cousin Rosa and others will speak at the Baptism, and Roberto is going to direct. Sorry, you have no idea who Roberto is. He´s the ward mission leader. Anyway, we´re really excited. :) We also had an interesting experience knocking doors this week. We started off the day by knocking on the first door of a street in our sector. Who should answer but a guy who has met with the missionaries before. His name is Alonzo Molina and he's super cool. He invited us in and basically taught us the plan of salvation. However, we knew we weren't going to get anywhere with him any time soon. He kept mentioning over and over again how we don't need churches, just our faith. He also mentioned that he loved to read books of the faith, so we ended up just leaving him a Book of Mormon and told him
Hey Yall, Well, this week has been a doozy. No, yet again we didn't feel the earthquake we had. It was a 7.0 up near Conce, but we didn't feel a thing again. It's kind of boring to tell the truth. Apparently people in Conce were panicking, though. The Bishop is out of town, so we're having a hard time progressing in the work. We didn't get Rosa's Baptism announced, so we'll have to wait another week on that as well. But, we found a couple of people while knocking doors during the rain. I know the Lord was blessing us because we were working in spite of the weather, so we're going to work extra hard to use those blessings to our advantage. A couple of the people we found already have been lost to vacations and whatnot, but there are several more we are going to visit. I'm learning lots here. during our personal study, I've been finding answers to questions we've had from investigators. There was one about UFOs that I didn't even search for
Hey Yall, Well, this week has been interesting to say the least. Elder Jose Garcia is my new companion, from Salvador. He has this cambio (transfer) and the next before he goes home. Hopefully we´ll both stay here in Millahue for his final and I can kill him! (Don´t worry, that´s just a mission term for a companion who goes home while you´re with him), He´s actually 24 because he worked for a couple of years before the mission. He´s super capo (boss?) and muy amable (very kind). As for the work, it goes a little slow right now. Although, Rosa committed to Baptism...finally! Better yet, her brother seems interested in the church now. He was with us in one of our visits and he took a Book of Mormon to read it. He´s a marine, so we´re not sure how fast he´ll progress. His name is Erwin. The animals here are really funny sometimes. we had a cat follow us for almost two blocks the other day while knocking doors. Elder Garcia almost killed it by dropping it on a fence w
