Don't worry, Be Happy

Dear Readers,

That title has many, many meanings/depths to it that I'm actually proud of myself for thinking of a song that fit what I was thinking. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, don't worry. Be Happy. :)

Today I discovered that most of my muscle mass comes from helping my sister. She, living very near by where my parents' house stands, always calls for helping when moving things around her house or hefting things from the store. You may recall reading about when she bought a treadmill. Yeah, somewhere between 200 and 300 pounds of machinery she tries to spend time on every day.

Today, I helped move a bunch of things out of her front room and second bedroom for two reasons. First, she had people coming over to hang out in her house. Second, she has a friend who is moving in with her soon. She had about 10 boxes of movies, dishes, books and decorations to move in addition to two desks that weighed about 50 lbs each. Yeah, my sister makes me buff.

Sorry, that was a really long tangent that I just thought of while I was writing. The real reason for this post can be found(no pun intended) in "Our search for Happiness," by M. Russell Ballard. In this book, Elder Ballard lays out many basic points of human nature and the foundations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I highly recommend it not only because the ideas are very influential, but because after reading it, the reader will find themselves with a pretty broad sense of what the Church is/believes.

Read the book, sing many songs and never forget to love those who love you back. :) I'll leave with an idea that came to my attention today. Many apologies to the originator of this thought. I have no idea who you are.

"What is love? Well, God gave us two eyes to see, two ears to hear, two hands to hold but only one heart. That way we can find another heart and find out for ourselves what the two hearts can do together."

Am I Proud to Be an American?

This weekend is the 4th of July, or Independence Day in the United States of America. One of my favorite songs during this time of celebrating the country is "God Bless the USA." The words paint a detailed picture of the beauty of the United States, both in a physical and emotional aspect. Our country is often depicted in a majestic manner such as this, making it seem like the greatest in the world and we often hear those bold words, "I'm proud to be an American."  With all of the issues that have been cropping up over the past couple of years such as impeachment, systemic racism, foreign intervention, and most significantly the COVID-19 pandemic, I have reflected deeply about what we celebrate with the 4th of July. These issues are just a few of the many that have made me wonder about the country we praise so proudly.  Am I really proud to be an American?  Thomas Jefferson wrote the candid words of the Declaration of Independence, which were th...

You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breath, shine like gold...

Dear Readers, Ok, so I can't fit the entire title into the title box. It's a good song, go look it up: "You make me smile." The title can apply to anyone, I've found. The rest of the lyrics would probably refer to a best friend or a significant other, but anyone can make you smile. They all have the own way of doing it. Some are just funny all the time and you can't help smiling when you're around that person. I know some who take care of people so well that you just smile when they're doing something for another. Others you can talk to about your problems and no matter what they say, it seems to make sense and you feel better...thus a smile. Ok, a smile doesn't always come in that case, but people usually smile after that. Anyone can have a blonde moment and make everyone smile because of it. I'm glad I've got friends who can do all of these: have blonde moments, take care of others or have an episode of hyperactivity that you can't he...

I Don't Wanna Be Anything Other Than Me

Dear Reader,  I work online at one of my part-time jobs. Sometimes it is required of me to look up a person's credentials or accomplishments to better fill out a description of their time on the radio. This means I do Google searches quite frequently to find their websites, their social media profiles, etc. By no means am I a guru on the world wide web, but I have been around the internet a few times. Why does any of this matter to you, reader? It matters because I have found a few things that are essential to being safe online. As much as anyone hates to admit, the persona built on the web greatly affects the actual person outside of technology. It matters because we need to review the tips on how to remain safe online regularly.  Here is a quick example of how important it is to monitor what you put online. If you put "Dale Lundstrom" into a Google search, there are 743 results as of today. A good number of those have nothing to do with me, it's true. Howe...
