Hey yall,
Sorry you didn´t hear from me last week. The new mission president proclaimed september as a ¨month of santification¨, part of which being a week without internet, including writing to families. He talked to us about getting rid of Facebook and other problems in the mission. So, we went the 12th without internet, but I still wrote a letter to the family. :)
As almost everyone asked, the 18th of September is the independence day of Chile. Actually, it´s the anniversary of the first congress of chile, but it´s basically the same. This week is what they call the Patriot Holidays, between independence(201 years) and the 19th is military day. So, basically all of Chile shuts down today to party because the 18th was a sunday. However, the real party was on the 17th, with the branch. The following happened on that saturday.
Seeing as no one even looks at us on these days, it was hard to work. However, on saturday we went to the Branch Party where we celebrated in the great chilean style. We danced, sang, ate empanadas and Mote con Huesillo. Yep, that´s right. We danced. We danced the Cueca, the national dance of Chile. Elder Brann and I got it down alright, but Elder Gonzalez had a little trouble. Elder Camargo didn´t even try, the little chicken. We had a wonderful time with the members and with the investigators we brought as well.
The work is going a little slow the past couple of days because of all these parties, but we´re doing our best. the other part of this ´´Month of santification´´ are the new standards for the mission. Usually the standard for how many people we talk to during the week is 140. This whole month we have a challenge of talking to 300 every week. On top, we have a new standard of how many lessons we have to teach and how many people we need to bring to church. We were struggling with the old standards, but we´re working our hardest to meet the norms.
We had a fun week with the parties we went to and the fun times we had. :) Keep reading every day!
