We've all got daddy's nose

Dear Reader,

Some friends of mine have recently been writing blogs about different topics from entrepreneurship to family life. There are some really consistent writers; some are very articulate. At the beginning of this year, one posted for the first time in 16 months! However, no matter how often they write or what topic they address, it is always nice to hear from old friends, especially on a platform where they share their most honest feelings. I love reading what these friends are doing and what they are going through. With that said, I come to you again from behind the keyboard to apologize for my neglect in writing due to working, parenting and singing. How can I keep from singing?

Down below I will give you a life update, but I wanted to inform you all of how great our Heavenly Father is. He knows us. He loves us. He wants the best for us. He sent His son to fulfill the atonement and learn how each one of us feels in order to comfort us in our times of need.

Now, for an update of a rather extensive amount of time: I'm a dad! Lauren and I had a little boy named Gavin on October 22, 2017. He came into our family in the wee hours of the morning (1:09 AM) at a whopping 8 lb. 15 oz (Same as his dad!). He is stinkin' cutie that came with a lot of hair and a good set of lungs. It didn't happen often when was first born, but he could scream loud enough to shatter glass. Though, it's not bad at all. In fact,  he didn't come out crying and the pediatrician had to poke and prod him to make him let out the most pathetic and wimpy cry I've ever heard from an infant.

Fast forward 7 months (Yes, I know it has been a long time since I have given you an update) and he is sitting up, almost crawling, and devouring bananas like they are going out of style. We have discovered that he loves water including bath time and the pool. Seriously, he was just in heaven when we got in the Colorado River down in Moab a couple weeks ago. He still has a good set of lungs, but now he makes much more noise, most of which sounds very intentional.

Work is the real reason I haven't been up to date with you, my friend. Last time I wrote was just before I started working with two Language Service Providers (LSP), InSync Interpreters and Linguistica International. You can ask me later how I feel about working with each of them. However, between those two agencies, Shriners and the occasional Spanish tutoring student, my work schedule has been pretty busy. It has to be said that I love working at Shriners Hospital for Children. The team is amazing and I get to meet people from all over the world.

The last update you need to know about is joining an a Cappella group called Inversion. My cousin James invited me to audition, so I did. It has been a good outlet of fun because...well, music. We have been working hard to learn some songs for summer shows we will be doing.

There is so much else that has happened since I last wrote, but we will leave that for another time. I just wanted to give an update to let you know that you are not forgotten, nor will you ever be.

Happy Doo da Day!

Dear Readers, You'll all be pleased to know that I accomplished something recently. It involves music and I feel very proud of myself. I was selected by our music director to play in our school's concerto night sometime during the month of May. This is one of the few things I've been hoping to do for a very long time. Although, there are a few reservations about being part of this honor. One of which deals with how the selection process works. I know it doesn't matter in the least bit, but I can't help thinking about me being picked as a senior. I tried out last year and did not make it as one of the soloists. I have to assume that had to be part of the process in selecting someone when looking at the list of soloists. They are all amazingly talented people in music, many of which were part of Concerto night last night. Most of the ones who were not participated in the Spring Concert as soloists. See what I mean? It could be possible that I was picked merely because

You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breath, shine like gold...

Dear Readers, Ok, so I can't fit the entire title into the title box. It's a good song, go look it up: "You make me smile." The title can apply to anyone, I've found. The rest of the lyrics would probably refer to a best friend or a significant other, but anyone can make you smile. They all have the own way of doing it. Some are just funny all the time and you can't help smiling when you're around that person. I know some who take care of people so well that you just smile when they're doing something for another. Others you can talk to about your problems and no matter what they say, it seems to make sense and you feel better...thus a smile. Ok, a smile doesn't always come in that case, but people usually smile after that. Anyone can have a blonde moment and make everyone smile because of it. I'm glad I've got friends who can do all of these: have blonde moments, take care of others or have an episode of hyperactivity that you can't he

That's What Makes the World Go 'Round!

Dear Reader, Bonus points go to whoever can name what movie today's song title comes from. Comment below to submit your answers. Today I wanted to give you an update on the great " ALS Ice Bucket Challenge " that is taking the internet by storm. What started as a small campaign to raise awareness and funds for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) has grown and caused thousands of people to dump ice or ice water over their heads. That is how it works: one person nominates another to the challenge. That nominated person then has 24 hours to either donate $100 to the ALS foundation or have a bucket of ice dumped over their head. I would like to think most people are both accepting the ice bucket challenge and donating to charity. I won't judge, though. With all of this publicity that the ALS campaign has received, it made me think of other fads that people participated in during the 1920s and 1930s. Did you know that people regularly participated
